Getting started

What is 24x7ping.com?

24x7ping.com is professional website and systems monitoring from Earnest Software Engineering. It watches your sites and services around the clock with HTTP/HTTPS, ICMP ping, and port/socket checks, plus SSL expiry monitoring and keyword/content validation. Heartbeat URLs cover cron jobs and background workers. When something fails, you get alerts via email, SMS, Slack, Teams, or webhooks—and sustained outages include a shareable Debrief Report.

Who is it for?

IT teams, agencies, SaaS operators, and anyone who needs to know when a website, certificate, or background job fails—before customers notice or search rankings slip. Free and Starter tiers suit smaller sites; Growth, Business, and Custom plans scale for larger fleets and teams.

How quickly can I start monitoring?

Setup takes minutes. Create an account, verify your email, add a monitor with your target URL or host, configure contacts, and checks begin on your chosen schedule. No agents to install for website monitors—probes reach out from our check locations.

Terminology

These are the terms you will see in the product and documentation.

What is a monitor?

A monitor is a single check against a target you care about—typically a website, host, or port. Each monitor has a type (HTTP/HTTPS, ICMP ping, or port/socket), a check interval, and optional SSL and keyword settings. Your plan’s monitor limit is the maximum number of active monitors you can run.

What is uptime monitoring?

Uptime monitoring continuously checks whether a target is reachable and responding correctly. When a server fails, a deployment breaks, or DNS stops resolving, uptime checks are often the first alert. See our uptime monitoring guide.

What are regional vs confirmed outages?

A regional failure is a blip seen from one probe location (for example a local network path issue). A confirmed outage is when multiple regions agree the target is down. We distinguish the two before escalating so transient single-region noise does not wake your team as often as a real multi-region failure.

What is a probe or check location?

Independent monitoring probes run checks from multiple locations. Active locations today are mia-us (Miami), los-us (Los Angeles), and nyc-us (New York). European locations are coming online soon. Probes can continue checking and queue results even if the control plane is briefly unreachable.

What is a contact?

A contact is an alert recipient—email and/or SMS. You attach contacts to monitors (and heartbeats) so the right people get notified when something fails. Plan tiers limit how many contacts you can create.

What is a webhook channel?

A webhook channel is a destination for machine-readable alerts—Slack, Microsoft Teams, or a generic JSON webhook URL. Paid plans include webhook limits; the Free tier does not include webhooks.

What is a Debrief Report?

A Debrief Report is a shareable summary of findings after a sustained outage. It is available at a unique URL so you can share context with teammates or stakeholders without granting dashboard access.

What is a heartbeat?

A heartbeat is push-based “dead man’s switch” monitoring. Your job or app pings a unique URL (for example https://24x7ping.com/hb/your-key) on a schedule. If expected pings stop arriving, we alert you—ideal for cron jobs, workers, and batch processes that website checks cannot see.

What does pause / resume mean?

You can pause monitors (or heartbeats) for a timed maintenance window so planned downtime does not generate alerts, then resume when work is complete.

Signup & account

How do I create an account?

Go to Sign Up, enter your name, email, and password, and complete any captcha if shown. You will then verify your email with a one-time code before accessing the dashboard.

Why do I need to verify my email?

Email verification confirms you own the address used for login and alert delivery. After registration you receive a short MFA-style code; enter it on the verify page to unlock the account.

What happens after I sign up?

Depending on your flow you may finish company details, choose a subscription plan (with Stripe Checkout for paid tiers), then land on the dashboard. From there you add monitors, contacts, and notification channels. Your home screen after login is the dashboard.

Can I change my password or account details later?

Yes. After login, open Account to manage profile and security settings, and Billing for subscription and payment details via the Stripe customer portal.

Monitoring

What monitor types are supported?
  • HTTP/HTTPS — request a URL and evaluate reachability and response status.
  • ICMP ping — check whether a host responds to ping.
  • Port / socket — verify that a TCP port is accepting connections.

SSL expiry and keyword checks layer on top of website monitors. Learn more in the uptime, SSL, and asset monitoring guides.

How often are checks run?

You choose a check interval of 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes per monitor. While a site is failing, we recheck every minute so recovery is detected quickly and you are not left waiting for the next full interval.

Where do checks run from?

Checks run from independent regional probes in Miami (mia-us), Los Angeles (los-us), and New York (nyc-us). Multi-region probing helps catch CDN or ISP-specific failures that a single location would miss. European check locations are coming soon.

Will one-region network blips always page me?

Not by default in the same way as a full outage. We surface which regions see your site as down and escalate more carefully for confirmed multi-region failures, so a single-path blip is less likely to look like a global outage.

Can I pause monitoring during maintenance?

Yes. Use pause / resume so planned work does not generate false alerts. Resume when the window ends so coverage continues without recreating monitors.

Where can I see check history?

After login, use Monitors for configuration and status, and Monitor Logs for historical check results and troubleshooting.

SSL & keyword checks

Is SSL certificate monitoring included?

Yes. SSL certificate monitoring is included with every 24x7ping.com plan at no extra cost. We watch certificate expiry and surface handshake or connectivity failures on HTTPS so you can renew before browsers warn visitors. See SSL certificate monitoring.

What is keyword / asset monitoring?

Keyword monitoring searches the page content for a term that must appear or must not appear. It catches silent failures where the server still returns HTTP 200 but the page is blank, broken, or missing critical content. Details: website asset monitoring.

Are keyword and SSL checks the same as regional probes?

Regional probes focus on status and reachability from each location. Deeper keyword and SSL evaluation is performed on the master side. You still get layered coverage—uptime from multiple regions plus content and certificate checks—without assuming every deep check runs from every region on every poll.

Heartbeats

How do heartbeats work?

Create a heartbeat to receive a unique URL such as https://24x7ping.com/hb/your-key. Have your cron job, worker, or application ping that URL after a successful run. If too many consecutive expected intervals pass without a ping, we notify your contacts. Schedules can be interval-based or daily. See heartbeat monitoring.

Do heartbeats use the same alerts as website monitors?

Yes. Heartbeats use the same contact and webhook notification system as website monitors, so your team gets a consistent alert experience across pull-based and push-based checks.

Alerts & notifications

Which alert channels are supported?

Email, SMS, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and generic webhooks. Configure recipients under Notifications (contacts and webhook channels), then attach them to monitors.

How many contacts and webhooks do I get?

Limits depend on your plan. For example, Free includes 1 contact and no webhooks; Starter includes 2 contacts and 1 webhook; higher tiers increase both. Exact limits are listed under Plans & billing.

Can I reduce alert noise?

Prefer multi-region confirmation over reacting to every single-region blip, pause monitors during maintenance, and only attach the contacts who need to act. Heartbeats also support consecutive-miss thresholds so one delayed ping does not always equal an alert.

Debrief Reports

When is a Debrief Report created?

After a sustained outage, 24x7ping.com can produce a shareable Debrief Report summarizing findings so you can brief teammates or customers. Reports are available at a unique share URL (also reachable via short redirect paths used historically for AI/debrief links).

Do recipients need a 24x7ping.com login?

No. Anyone with the share link can view the Debrief Report, which makes it useful for stakeholders who should not have full dashboard access.

Plans & billing

What plans are available?

Simple tiers based on capacity. Current defaults:

Plan Price Monitors Contacts Users Webhooks Heartbeats
Free $0/mo 3 1 1 0 1
Starter $19/mo 10 2 1 1 3
Growth $29/mo 50 6 3 4 25
Business $69/mo 150 15 8 10 100
Custom / Enterprise Please call Negotiated (typically 500+ monitors)

Pricing on the homepage reflects current offers; for large fleets use the enterprise quote form.

Is there a free trial?

Monthly paid plans typically include a 30-day trial at checkout. Yearly plans are offered at a discount and generally do not include a trial. You can also start on the Free tier with limited capacity and upgrade when you need more monitors or channels.

How does billing work?

Paid subscriptions are handled securely through Stripe. Choose a tier that matches your monitor, contact, user, and webhook needs. There are no annual contracts required to get started—cancel anytime from the site. After canceling, no further billing occurs for that subscription.

How do I cancel or change my plan?

Manage subscription changes and cancellation from your dashboard billing area (Stripe customer portal). See also our Terms of Service for subscription terms.

What if I need more than Business capacity?

Use Custom / Enterprise for negotiated limits, typically starting around 500+ monitors, with custom contacts, users, webhooks, and heartbeats as needed.

Team & account management

Can I invite teammates?

Yes on plans that include multiple user seats. Growth includes 3 users, Business includes 8, and Custom / Enterprise is negotiated. Manage seats under Team Members in the dashboard. Free and Starter are single-user by default.

Where is my data and privacy documented?
